Boardgame Categories

The concept of boardgame categories is constantly expanding as micro categories break off of major ones (BoardGameGeeks’ is over 80 categories long!). Every boardgame also belong to multiple categories, you can have a cooperative, roleplaying, deception game or a real-time, thematic, card game. Listed below are some of the major game categories that I’ve decided make up a bulk of the current games on the market.

I won’t bore you by listing out all the descriptions for each one. Go over and check out Way Too Many Games’ fantastic description that covers all you need to know (and provides examples!)
