BARK ID

Above, you can see several types of distinct bark:

On the top left, we see a type of bark on the American Sycamore that exfloliates (falls off) in plates. The top right image shows smooth bark of the American Beech. On the bottom left we see deep ridges and furrows of a mature Sassafras tree. Finally, the bottom right image showcases the beautiful shaggy bark on a Shagbark Hickory.
