Boardgame Talk
Forums are a fantastic way to discuss boardgames. One of the unique attributes of boardgames is that at the end of the day, you can modify the rules to fit your needs. This leads to alot of interesting boardgame variants created by members of that given community. I’ve seen people go as far as creating custom cards, or custom rulebooks. Forums allow people to give feedback, discuss strategy, and most importantly get rule clarification. When “we” read the rulebook, its likely will misinterpret the rules and be making the game easier or harder on ourselves, but forums are a great way for people to share their interpretation and get a ground rule. Often boardgame creators will peruse these forums and share clarifications on misconceptions
If you are playing a popular or even semi-popular boardgame. Its likely your given game will have an associated reddit page! This is a great place to ask questions, share impressive victories, or narrow losses. You even get to see custom content made by other users too.
Discord
While less specific then reddit or other forums. Many games have their own discord channels where people will discuss and play games together. Discord is a very modern way of discussing and playing boardgames. Take a look at your chosen boardgame’s discord and see if you can strike up a virtual game using an online tabletop!
BoardGameGeek
BoardGameGeek is the mainstay for all forum and content discussion. It’s been around for over 20 years, so likely any question you’ve ever had has been asked before. While typical forum discussion has died out over the last few years (this is to say compared to its heyday! there are still plenty of posts overall), you can still find active and passionate members willing to discuss and help where they can. BoardGameGeek has evolved to being much more than a simple forum platform, including features such as buying and selling games, boardgame ratings, and more.
