I first played the digital version of One Deck Dungeon before picking up the physical boardgame. So this review will be my combined thoughts of the digital and boardgame versions (as they are 1:1 to eachother)
One Deck Dungeon is a compact solo/cooperative dungeon delving boardgame that uses a combination of other role playing game and rougelike elements. You roll dice and based on these dice you can assign them to attributes in order to slay the monster or conquer the task. The game inheritly is a luck based game due to its entire reliant on dice rolls, however there is some underlying strategy involved in how you build your character. Depending on how you build your character you have options of modifying or all out rerolling some of your dice.
One Deck Dungeon functions as a campaign game, every time you win or lose you get XP to spend on increasing permanent stats for that character. However because each dungeon and character are independent of one another you are free to restart, change character, or ignore XP entirely. I have found the game to be best played solo, as the pace of the game feels a bit more natrual. Each game lasts roughly 30 minutes.
One of the best parts about One Deck Dungeon is is overall size. The game is very small making it perfect for a quick setup on a trip. Though I would recommend getting a small dice tray as there is alot of rolling involved in the game. The game does manage to get repetivive realtivley fast as you are facing the same encounter deck every single dungeon, though the order of the cards and the modifiers change per dungeon. There are expansions which add more cards which can help offset this. Overall One Deck Dungeon is a quick cheap game to play a few times and probably not return to, though I do revisit the digital version a few times a month as its easy to relearn and put back down.
